The kinds of DFMEAs and PFMEAs that landed on that desk ran the gamut: stamped-metal brackets at 240ppm, glass-filled nylon housings with two supplier-source alternates, slip-ring assemblies where a single detection-score change closed a customer escalation in 72 hours. origin · why the kit exists at all
Packaged so a 1-to-5-person shop can ship the same paperwork.
Specvault exists because the alternative for a small shop is to either skip the paperwork (and lose first-article), or hire a quality engineer at $140k to write it (and lose the margin on the part). The kits are the third path: the documents a Tier-1 supplier already proved out, packaged so a founder can open them in Excel on a Tuesday and ship an APQP packet to a sourcing manager on Friday.
